We’re pleased to announce that Andrew Baldwin is creating our first site specific commission for the ship. Here you can see him inside one of three midships air receivers removing redundant pipework that he will be incorporating into his sculptural piece. We hope to see many ShipMates at the unveiling, more details coming soon.
Also this week the new gangway has been fabricated by Peter Chapman of Intrada Engineering at Scotline Terminal, who have been very supportive of our project. We’ll be painting it on site ready for installation in the coming week or two – weather permitting. Access will be greatly improved so visitors will no longer have to brave our gangplank!
Thanks also to everyone who has visited us recently. We’ve had a wide range of visitors including Scarabeus and The World Famous who we have a planned collaboration with in the summer. Also Kent Probation who we are looking forward to working with in the near future and Kent Regional News who will be publishing a feature on LV21 next week. John Kempton from The Medway Queen Preservation Society kindly lent us some equipment – they may well be our neighbours later in the year. And of course thanks to all the ShipMates that have helped out with everything from electrics and power supply to grinding and chipping.
