Maritime Heritage

The LV21 project will develop an archive of the history of Light Vessels and the important role they played in ensuring the safety of seafarers. A small living museum will be established and will include interviews and films of former crew members as well as displays of interesting artifacts and memorabilia. LV21 is the last lightship built in the UK by Phillips and Son and her long service off the Kent coast will be celebrated and preserved for future generations.

LV21 aims to bring the community, business and visitors back to the river. As a partner in the HMS2 maritime heritage programme we will develop exhibitions that will be brought to life by performance, film and events.
